THE ART:
KOLANDA EARTH curates artwork using satellite imagery as an artistic medium. The process involves manipulating the bands of light reflectance to create abstract, artistic representations of the Earth’s natural features.
This piece is derived from satellite imagery captured over Central Mexico (some variants of this piece feature Mexico City). The cities appear as black clustered constellations nested in a varied blue patchwork in which lighter blue represents denser vegetation. This is the result of processing which highlights the vegetation within the landscape.
THE PRODUCT MATERIAL:
The canvas print is 140 x 110 cm made with heavy duty woven canvas and FSC approved wooden stretcher bars.
